United Nations Global Goals

Hey pals! Just a quick little post today as I’ve been super busy with uni. Only two more weeks then I’ve finished my undergraduate studies – super exciting! I just wanted to have a quick talk about something really exciting and important that’s happening in the world, today!

Today, on the 25th September 2015, 193 world leaders will commit to taking steps to achieve 17 global goals. Over the next 15 years, these goals will aim to end extreme poverty, fix climate change and fight for global equality + justice. The Global Goals are similar to the Millennium Development Goals, however with the power of the technology we possess in this day and age, the message can be spread far and wide throughout the world.

While all of the goals are incredibly important, the one I have chosen to support is Goal 4: Quality Education. I am truly blessed to live in a country where education is not only accessible but, almost until tertiary level, compulsory. I feel so lucky that I am only weeks away from completing two undergraduate degrees, and it brings me such sadness that in so many places globally, people do not have the same opportunities as I, and most of you, do. Goal 4 aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030, ensuring all individuals worldwide (regardless of gender, ability or race) receive the same level of access to the level of education that we do.

The purpose of sharing these goals on social media is to spread the message as far and wide as we possibly can, ensuring the world leaders who have agreed to these targets remain true to their word and take steps to achieve these 17 goals.

Everybody on this earth deserves equal opportunity. Let’s make changes to make it that way!

Do you know about the Global Goals? Which is most important to you?
