Sukin Micellar Cleansing Water: Review // BEAUTY

I think that micellar waters and I are just destined to not get along. I’ve tried them, I’ve persisted, and still I just hate them.

As regular readers will be aware, Sukin is hands down my favourite skincare brand. Basically every product of theirs I’ve tried I’ve loved, it works really well with my skin and smells like a delicious fruit bowl.

When they released their version of the on-trend micellar water, I was stoked and super excited to get my hands on it. My mum actually purchased it for me while shopping one day, as she saw it and knew of the difficulties I’d had with other micellar waters in the past.

I was really looking forward to trying it out, so that night I used it to take my makeup off.

Firstly – the smell. It’s confusing. Both overwhelmingly sweet and strongly “cucumber-y”, it’s fresh but when applied to my face does get to be a bit much. Not a huge fan.

The product removed my makeup well, although I would say not as well as micellar waters I’ve used in the past. I would put this down to the natural nature of the product, however, and therefore do not mind that it might take me a bit longer and a few more cotton pads.

It didn’t leave my skin feeling soapy, which was great! A problem I’ve had with similar products in the past is that I skin feel unclean after I’ve used it. I rinsed my face with water and a muslin cloth after use, and did notice that my skin did feel incredibly tight, which I thought was odd.

Another issue I had was that when a little bit of the product got into my eyes, it REALLY stung. I understand that they’re not meant to get into your eyes, but when previous micellar waters I’ve used in the past have gotten into my eyes they haven’t hurt at all. I thought this was a little strange considering that this one is more natural, but perhaps I just reacted strangely.

Overall – it’s an okaaaay product, but one I probably wouldn’t repurchase. It’s a shame because I do love Sukin products so much, but unfortunately this one just didn’t do it for me.

Have you tried Sukin’s micellar water? What did you think?
