I am both impressed and terrified by the fact that a month of this year has gone by already. I don’t want to do the classic middle-aged woman conversation starter of “goodness this year’s just flying by!”, but seriously – almost February already?! Regardless of my shock and dispair, there have been a few new things that I’ve been enjoying this month that I’d love to share with you all.
ANASTASIA DIP BROW POMADE
Despite recently raving about my painfully expensive Hourglass Arch Brow, I’ve well and truly fallen back in love with the Dip Dip this month. I feel like Hourglass only looks really good when I’ve freshly threaded my brows, whereas with Dipbrow I’m able to create a good brow shape even when they’re looking a bit monstrous. Plus it works out to be much more affordable and lasts for a lot longer than my darling Hourglass pencil.
NARS ALBATROSS HIGHLIGHTER
Having not worn makeup a lot for the first half of January, I re-discovered the beauty that is Albatross quite recently. I just love the golden tones of it and the fact that it’s not too full on and doesn’t make you look like a disco ball, but is still sparkly enough to be a bit different.
MAC CRÈME D’NUDE LIPSTICK
I find this one really hard to wear sometimes, as it can make me look a bit too ‘foundation lip’-y, but I’ve found that if I bronze myself up enough it looks really great, and I think it’s such a lovely wearable colour. Plus I adore the formula of MAC lipsticks, especially the cremesheen varieties.
GUCCI FLORA PERFUME
While I’m usually not a huge fan of sweet perfumes, I got this one for Christmas and absolutely adore it. It’s sweet but not sickly, beautifully floral and light enough to be worn every day. The bottle is also really cute, which, to be honest, is half of the reason I like most perfumes anyway.
the Horse WATCH
I received this beautiful watch for my 21st birthday from my family and it is just one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. I’ve been working a lot this month and wear it to every shift, and I’m guaranteed at least two compliments on it every single time. It is a beautiful quality timepiece that is a modern yet timeless design.
As part of a promise to myself to read more this year, I purchased a good amount of inspiring books to kick things off with. Despite my shame at reading this on my iPad and not in physical form, I finished #GIRLBOSS in less than two days. While it did get a tiiiiiiiny bit dry toward the end, I found myself walking away from it feeling like I could conquer the world and then some (or at least read some more books). I would really recommend this book for any ladies (or men, I suppose) that need a bit of a kick up the ass from reality.
SIA – A THOUSAND FORMS OF FEAR
I know I’m late to the party with this one, but I bought Sia’s latest album with hesitance after really not liking 2010’s We Are Born. I listened to it a lot while I was cooking and driving, and really found myself liking almost every song on the album. The fact that I’m addicted to Dance Moms and tiny-super-human Maddy Ziegler didn’t help my obsession with the amazing music videos that go along with it, either.
What have you been loving this month?
