Summer Shades: My Top Three Summer Nail Colours // BEAUTY

IMG_1267

First of all I wanted to wish you all a happy New Year! I hope 2015 brings you all that you desire and even more. When summer rolls around, certain changes in trends tend to occur. Lipsticks get more vibrant, hair gets blonder and nail polishes go from wintery navy shades to pastels and rainbow brights.

My part-time job doesn’t allow me to wear nailpolish while working, so when I have a few days off I like to take full advantage of the situation and slap something on that’s nice a bright.

Here are a few of my favourites for throughout the warmer months, that would last a whole lot longer on my nails if my job and terrible cuticles allowed it.

ESSIE – Fiji

Oh, how I have a love/hate relationship with Essie nail polishes. I was beyond excited to try them when they first came to Australia, and cult favourite Fiji was at the top of my list. Upon purchasing, I was immediately disappointed with the formula. For a brand that has so much hype and so many good reviews, I couldn’t believe how thick, gluggy and difficult to apply this polish was. The saving grace in the whole situation was the colour itself. Hot damn that is a beautiful shade of pink. I’ve tried so hard to find a colour that’s the same, and as much as I hate to say it – nothing comes close to Fiji. I hate that it’s such an awful formula for quite a high price (retail is around $17, and yes I’ve tried other colours so I know I didn’t just get a dodgy bottle), but the beautiful baby pink just draws me back. Every. Single. Time.

Essie – Blanc

Again with the Essie polishes. I just can’t look past their beautiful shades despite their poor quality. While this requires three fairly thick coats to actually appear opaque, if I can be bothered to complete the process it actually looks quite nice. I like plain white as it’s simple, still makes a statement and goes with everything. It’s nice and fresh and great for summer.

Revlon – Bold Sangria

While this isn’t a typical summer shade, being the deep purple shade it is, I don’t believe that all summer shades need to be pastels and light shades. I usually wear this if I’m going out in the evenings, as it goes well if you’re wearing darker colours. I also really love the formula of these polishes. It goes on so easily, you only need two coats and is relatively chip-resistant.

What’s on your nails this summer?

  1. Hey Tiahn,

Another great post. I didn’t actually know Essie was available here. Where do you buy it from?

    Love you Sarz xx
