Cheeky Weekender: New Things + Sorry I Suck At Blogging // LIFE

Firstly I wanted to apologise for the lack of actual posts this past week. I’ll be honest – I’ve been the world’s busiest (and most disorganised!) human, and when Christmas rolled around I just wanted to spend time with my family. But after a week of food and fun I now actually have free time and pinky promise I’ll be better.

I recently acquired some new things (most I bought with my own money, one was a gift), and I wanted to share them with you in the hope that maybe you’ll love them as much as I do.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – Train Bleu

After hearing many good things about these lip pencils, I impulse-purchased one while shopping online a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t do a whole heap of research however, and the colour is a lot different in person to how it appears online. While I do like a good dark lip colour, this one ventures into whole new territory, but I am absolutely loving it. Despite it probably being more appropriate for the cooler months, this deep purple colour is vampy and wonderful, and maybe one day I’ll even be brave enough to wear it outside the confines of my bathroom.

Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow – Dusty Rose

Also impulse purchased with the NARS pencil (it was 2am and I slipped and entered my card details, whoops!), this eyeshadow has the weirdest consistency of anything I’ve ever used. In the pot, it literally feels like gold leaf foil, but when mixed with the provided eye primer it transforms into the silkiest cream shadow. I wore this on my lids on Christmas day and felt like a wonderful disco ball for the whole of dinner.

Chroma Stationery Personalised Notebooks

I know my stationery addiction is getting a bit out of hand, but I just can’t say no when things are this beautiful. Firstly – I love the idea of Chroma as a whole. Started by their founder Gabi during her last year of university, Chroma makes it easy and affordable to find beautiful personalised notebooks (which, let’s be honest, is something you didn’t realise you needed until right now). The company offers plain or spiral-bound notebooks, all of which come with free hot-foil embossing on the front cover. I ordered two ‘tiahnwrite’ notebooks (because self-indulgence is the new black), with gold foil font. The books themselves are really well made, and come in a wide range of colours. They’re quite thin, but I personally don’t mind this as it means they are very portable, plus I don’t think I’ve ever filled an entire notebook in my life. I was also really impressed with how quickly they arrived from England, especially so close to Christmas! I ordered my notebooks on December 10th and received them on the 23rd, which is great when you consider that each book had to be embossed and make its way to Australia from the U.K.

I know I’m going on about these books a lot but they truly are just so lovely, and I know that I will definitely be purchasing more for gifts during the next year. PLUS, I’m all about supporting small businesses, and it’s great to see how well this one is doing.

Glasshouse Candles – Montego Bay

My Glasshouse candle in Coney Island has finally met its demise in an unfortunate incident involving a bath, and its jar has moved onto greener pastures as a DIY venture (more on that to come). So, how lucky am I that for Christmas I received a new candle in the delightfully fresh coconut-lime scent that is Montego Bay. I have had this burning for the last two days, and it smells absolutely divine, and is making me feel so incredibly summery and fresh. They are quite expensive, but considering how long my first candle lasted me, I’d say they’re definitely worth it if you want to treat yourself.

What have you purchased recently?
